YOUR TRIP WILL DEPEND ON HOW MANY DIFFERENT CARS YOU WILL NEED TO GET TO YOUR DESTINATION.

Placement of Cargo Cars or Caboose on an Active Train Track.
Once a locomotive is placed on a track with a city of origin, the winning of cars begins.
There are a couple of options a member can use to do this.
First you need to determine what route your train will take.
Each city has multiple routes leading to/from it.
Example: Red Train Toledo OH
TOLEDO OH CHICAGO IL 3 cars EVEN STEVENS NTC
TOLEDO OH FORT WAYNE IN 2 cars PHASE 10 NTC
CLEVELAND OH TOLEDO OH 2 cars GROUPER NT
The direction the train goes is governed by the first game you win of the 3 coming from Toledo. You win Even Stevens NTC the sets the destination as Chicago IL and now the member needs to win Even Stevens NTC 3 times total to finish the route.
Each win will place a cargo car behind your locomotive. You must have a cargo card in your rail yard OR the tickets (5) to purchase one. If you win and have no cargo cars in the rail yard, but do have the tickets to purchase one, 5 tickets will be deducted from your total and a random cargo car placed behind your locomotive.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TICKETS TO PURCHASE THE CARGO CAR, THE WIN ON THAT ROUTE DOES NOT COUNT!
It is much easier to have cars purchased and sitting in your rail yard for use when winning. As you get closer to completing a route, a caboose is needed to save your train from actions against it. (Avalanche, Bank Robber, Train Crash.) Once the required number of cars are behind your locomotive, the caboose can be purchased for 10 Tickets and saved in your rail yard or purchased from your available tickets. If not in rail yard or have the available tickets to purchase one, your train is open to attack. SAVE IT ASAP YOU GET TICKETS TO PURCHASE THE CABOOSE! Rail Yard You can order cars/cargo cars at any time by using your tickets. Once ordered they will appear in your RAIL YARD. You can order any number of cargo cars/cars, but can not have more caboose than you have locomotives.
